From the moment you step into the entryway and see the expanse of original wood, you know that you’re about to enjoy something special.
This home is a rare find: a two-bedroom home with public spaces you’d expect to find in a much grander property. You’ll be amazed at the original unpainted wood wainscoting, trim and box beam ceilings. There are built-ins in both the dining room and study, and the study is lined with window seats with storage. You’ll find all that plus refinished hardwood floors in this warm and welcoming bungalow. The sellers have welcomed Taj Mahal, Hugh Masekela & other greats to this home, who have graced it with their music!

This North Oakland/Berkeley border location is wonderfully convenient to recreational facilities, public transit and good shopping. A young woman who grew up in this neighborhood, and works across the street at the Sankofa Academy, spent quite a while at my Brokers’ Open. She told me that she wants to stay in this neighborhood as long as she can, how close it is to all the cool new shopping in Emeryville, and how quick it is to Berkeley Bowl. She’s seen changes over the years, as have my sellers. Now they agree that this block is especially quiet because of the school, which gets out at 3 pm on weekdays, only during the school year. Attendance is low now, and its use may be administrative in a year or so. She also spoke highly of all the people she knows from the neighborhood, and of how sorry she was that these sellers would no longer be part of her extended community. They will be missed!

www.REALonomics.net is a blog that is asking serious questions about where the real estate industry is going. More specifically, REALonomics poses challenges to the broker/owners to adopt models that will allow their organizations to become more transparent.
REALonomics.net advocates that the industry open up the property information portals to consumers and upgrade its approach to how it is interacting with the consumer by implementing more social networking such as www.CityBlogUSA.com, a community blogging network for every city in the USA.
