Hospitals and Physicians

When someone relocates they often seek information about physicians, specialists, hospitals and other types of health care, such as extended care. Is there a resource in Berkeley for health care information?

I’m writing to strongly recommend a neurosurgeon who has a Berkeley office.
Just a week ago I had cervical spinal surgery. It was fairly major surgery, requiring removing two disks, removing bone spurs and other arthritic growth on my vertebrae, replacing the disks with bone, and installing a titanium plate screwed into three vertebrae. I was in my hospital bed for fewer than 24 hours!
I can strongly recommend Dr. Jeffrey Randall as a neurosurgeon. I chose to have the operation at Eden Hospital, which has a new floor dedicated just to the Neurosciences Center. There are 14 private rooms with views, plus an unheard of 6 private ICU rooms. Just for that floor there is a staff of 60 and I felt extremely well cared for.
Dr. Randall is cheerful, relaxed, smiles easily and inspires confidence. I interviewed three neurosurgeons before choosing him, and he was the best at explaining my options and the possible outcomes. I actually looked forward to seeing him today for my return visit!
Perhaps the most surprising event was his calling me the Friday before a Monday surgery to see how I was feeling about having the procedure, and offering to answer questions. I give him five stars!
